Today I'd like to take you with me, back into history once more, but I actually want to take you on a journey. Show you a glimpse of why I do what I do, relentlessly, why I live and breathe history...Its ancient call is the lifeblood that flows through my veins and its hidden knowledge and wisdom, the poetry that nourishes my soul. You all probably have no idea what goes on in the background, behind the scenes, my day to day, but…
When I'm not chasing a new location, on single-mom duty, dealing with countless emails or lecturing/having a private consultation, I have board meetings with myself as I swim, taking a moment out of the madness of everyday life. Water is very healing and affects our invisible energy system, and more specifically is connected to the sacral chakra, which rules our emotions, sexuality but also creativity. Often, information that I find seems to come together either while I'm immersed in water or when I dream and plunge into the depths of the sea of the collective unconscious, following endless hours researching through old antique books that are out of print, medieval documents in various languages, meeting unknown cyphers that greet me along the way and almost always, crossing secret thresholds that take my work in a completely new direction.
I am very much a child of history: I grew up with its tales and would lose myself for hours in old books, re-living events under the covers with a torchlight when I was meant to be sleeping; my mother would often complain and even shared with my son how I would read an entire book overnight every day as young girl as I could not part from my friends. I was fortunate in a way, due to my father's job as a Diplomat and also historian, to travel to many of the places I read about; learning their culture, wisdom and languages as well as the messages hidden in plain view. Perhaps this is why I see the world not with the eyes but with the heart, as I read buildings, seeing them as storybooks, understanding the land and ancient ways better than these modern times.
History and the mysteries, what we now call the "Occult" or "Esoteric Knowledge" speak to my soul. As their humble daughter, through my work as an author and historian, I want to share my journey with all of you, for it is the story of mankind and YOUR STORY. So join me today and take a moment out to remember those gone before you and the legacy they've left us so that we may continue to pass its torch of enlightenment to future generations.
